I am a Toronto-trained Urologist: I practiced, freelance, in downtown Toronto, from 1977 to 1997.
Following the closure of my 3 main hospitals, the Doctors’, the Central and the Wellesley, (courtesy of Michael Harris) in 1997, I went to Saudi Arabia, to be chief of Urology for the Armed Forces teaching hospital in Tabuk (North-West KSA).
Returning to Ontario in Y2000, I worked in Scarborough and in 2001, moved to Etobicoke.
In 2007, becoming aware of the slow, progressive loss of hormone production which starts at age 26 in both males and females, I began to prescribe bioidentical hormones as an adjunct to holistic management, for my patients.
In 2012, I became a member of the American Academy of Antiaging Medicine [A4M] and started their two-year course of study.
I wrote their examination successfully in December of 2013, began a BHRT practice in 2014 and in October of 2015, finally gave up family practice in favour of specialty practice in Bioidentical Hormone Restoration Therapy.
In May 2016, I passed the A4M’s oral examination, achieving certification as a BIHRT consultant and in January of 2017, I started practice at the Stone Tree Naturopathic Clinic, in Collingwood, Ontario.
I HAVE NOW RETIRED
I have retired from medical practice, but it seems wasteful to jettison my learning and experience: the medical establishment disregards and ignores the hormonal aspect of our metabolic function and I feel obliged to offer the knowledge I have acquired, in the interest of bettering the lives of those who think outside the box.
This website therefore provides three services:
(1) A set of background information papers which together explain hormone deficiency and its management,
(2) A blog, in which I mention interesting developments in medicine and do my best to keep you up-to-date regarding developments in BHRT and
(3) A list of URLs to interesting papers, not necessarily confined to HRT matters, which I consider important and worthy of your attention.
JUST TO REMIND YOU, My Qualifications are (or were):
MB, BS, London [England] 1964,
LMCC (Canadian license exam) 1969,
FRCSC (Urology), 1974,
ECFMG 1984 …… Florida license 1998 [inactive], ABAARM Certification [A4M], 2016.
My memberships were:
CSAMM [Canadian Society of Aging and Metabolic Medicine],
OMA/CMA, RCP&S, SUSO, CUA.
MY PRACTICE, from 2016 TO DATE OF RETIREMENT, was: Consultation in Functional/Metabolic Medicine, including management of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Andropause, Menopause, Depression with or without Panic Attacks, the “Troubled Teen”, Thyroid Hormone Malfunction, Failed Hypothyroidism Treatment, Infertility, Sexual Dysfunction and “the Undiagnosable”.
